The Operations Gap

Many nonprofit failures aren't failures of vision—they're operational shortfalls. Teams with innovative approaches to pressing problems get bogged down in compliance, bookkeeping, and administrative tasks. Subject matter experts spend more time on operations than on the mission.

Anti Entropy bridges this gap. Since 2022, we've provided operational support to high-impact nonprofits focused on AI safety, global catastrophic risk reduction, and other critical cause areas. Our mission is to ensure that impactful organizations have strong operations, enabling them to create meaningful change efficiently and effectively.

Who We Serve and Why

We support organizations addressing humanity's most pressing challenges:

• Early-stage projects testing interventions that could scale dramatically

• Established organizations needing specialized operational infrastructure

• Research initiatives requiring temporary organizational homes

• Teams working in AI safety, global health, animal welfare, and other high-impact areas

For example, our SparkWell program currently hosts projects ranging from AI safety capacity building in Brazil to cost-effective farmed fish welfare initiatives in Asia, as well as COPD rehabilitation programs. The specific interventions vary, but our pattern of impact remains consistent: ambitious teams with evidence-based approaches that require operational infrastructure to test and scale their solutions.

We've learned that operational support isn't one-size-fits-all. Some projects need comprehensive fiscal sponsorship. Others need specific resources or targeted consulting. This understanding shapes our three-pillar approach.

Three Pillars of Support

SparkWell: Fiscal Sponsorship as Incubator

SparkWell is our 6-24 month incubator program providing:

• Full 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and financial infrastructure

• Monthly strategic guidance and operational support

• Established systems and processes

• Connections to funders and the broader ecosystem

• Clear graduation path to independence

Projects join when they have confirmed funding and are ready to test their theory of change, validate fundability, or conduct deep research into their proposed impact. They graduate when they are prepared to scale independently. We also offer SparkWell Research (beta) for short-term research initiatives that require temporary operational support without the intention of becoming independent organizations.

Resource Portal: Operational Knowledge Base

The Anti Entropy Resource Portal is our free contribution to the nonprofit community:

• Comprehensive guides from fiscal sponsorship to board governance

• Templates and tools tested with real organizations

• Curriculum guiding organizations through operational milestones

• Regular updates based on emerging needs

We believe operational excellence shouldn't be a competitive advantage—it should be baseline infrastructure that lets everyone focus on their mission.

Operations Consulting: Direct Support

We provide targeted consulting—both paid and pro bono—for organizations facing specific operational challenges. Drawing on years of experience, we provide a broad range of support, including compliance requirements, operational system design, funding models, and governance structures. This isn't theoretical advice—it's practical support.

The Team

Board of Directors: Jeffrey Poche (President), Andy Hovis, and Devon Fritz. We plan to add one to two board members by the end of 2026.

Our lean structure is intentional. By partnering with specialized providers and building robust systems, we maintain low overhead while delivering high-quality support.
